Do you require any blood tests or x-rays?
If you require blood tests or x-rays as part of your medical, these will be arranged and carried out before your medical appointment with the doctor. Please see the list below of the different types of test we can carry out or refer you for. Once all results are returned to us, the doctor will be able to carry out the medical and complete your documentation.T
Blood Tests - Using our UCAS accredited laboartory in London, we can carry out hundreds of diffferent types of test. All samples are couriered the same day to the laboratory and there is a fast turn-around time for results. SImply tell us which tests you need and we will book you in with a clinician at our Bournemouth, Ashley Cross or Poundbury Clinic. The appointment cost for the blood test is £40 and then you pay the labaoratory cost of the test(s) required.
Drug & Alcohol Tests - We can carry out several different drug & alcohol tests using blood or urine samples. Please note, if a urine test is required, we cannot offer "Chain of Custody" at our clinics. This means that we do not have the facilities to ensure the urine sample has not been tampered with by the patient before it is sent to the laboratory for analysis.
Tubercluosis Testing (TB) - Depending on the requirements of your medical, we can refer you for a chest x-ray or we can carry out the TBQ Blood Test. The blood test will confirm if there is the presence of TB antibodies, however. if you have a positive result, you will need investigation to determine if it is a past or active infection.
Chest X-rays - We will arrange for one of doctors to send a referral to a local private hospital near to where you live. The hospital will then contact you to arrange a convenient appointment. We charge a £25 x-ray referral fee and you will then be charged by the hospital for the x-ray.
Sexual Health Tests - We can carry out the blood, urine or swab tests for any sexual health test you may require. All samples are couriered to our labaoratory and the results are sent back to us within 1-5 days depending on the type of test(s) requested.
Immunity Blood Tests - If you have had health vaccinations in the past and you would like to check your immunity levels, we can carry out the appropriate blood tests. If you are not immune to an illness, we can then administer the health vaccination.
Spirometry - This can be carried out at our Bournemouth Clinic
What to expect at the medical
Our GPs will examine you according to the instructions and questions on the documentation you provide. Sometimes this will consist of some physical checks. Some of the common physical checks carried out will include: Eye Test, Blood Pressure, Heart & Pulse Check and Urine dip test. If you do not have a specific medical report which needs completion, then our doctors can carry out an appropriate, general medical check up and provide a letter to confirm this has taken place.
Do you need to show your NHS Summary Record?
We recommend that you bring along a "printed paper copy of your NHS summary record". This will ensure that our doctors have access to everything they may need to complete your medical document. This can be obtained by requesting the printout from the reception at your NHS surgery.
How to book your medical
It is important to ensure all aspects of your medical are carried out accurately. We recommend you send us a copy of the documentation which requires completion. We will then ensure that all the appropriate tests are booked in and that our doctors are prepared for your assessment. If you do not have any documentation, please let us know as much information as possible.
Please use the form at the bottom of this page to upload your document(s). If you have any problems or you do not have documents, please let us know in the messages box on the form below, or call or email us anytime.
