We set up a private GP service because it gives us the opportunity to offer patients the kind of service we believe in: thorough, efficient and prompt general practitioner care.
Who We Are
We are a team of highly experienced doctors and nurses based in three clinics in Dorset.
Bournemouth – Based on the top floor at 7 Poole Road, which also houses Total Children's Therapy and Dorset Private Physiotherapy. We also share the building with Poole Road Medical Centre and Westcliff Pharmacy.
Ashley Cross in Poole – Based at 41 Church Road, which also houses Total Children’s Therapy, Wessex Fertility, South Face Clinic (dermatologists), Meehan Therapy (massage therapist, Poole Physiotherapy and the Wellbeing Practice.
Poundbury in Dorchester – Dorset Private GP clinic is located at 14 Crown Gate. We are in the same building as the Wellbeing Practice who offer counselling and psychotherapy services.
Our Approach
We believe that patients need personal attention from a doctor who has time to focus on you. It’s the best way to identify any health problems you may have, the best way to understand why they’re happening, and the best way to select the most appropriate treatment.

Meet our wonderful team
Dr Tim Alder
Bournemouth
Tim has spent 30 years practising as a GP in the Dorset area and 28 years as an NHS partner at Poole Road Medical Centre. He enjoys clinical medicine, family practice and has a specialist interest in men’s health.
Tim founded Dorset Private GP along with Dr Jon Echebarrieta and Steve Middleton in 2017. He believes in giving a better service to patients through longer appointments and continuity of care.
He is very experienced in joint injections and enjoys the new addition of Hyaluronic Acid injections for osteoarthritis.
Dr Jon Echebarrieta
Bournemouth
Jon has been an NHS partner at Poole Road Medical Centre for 17 of his 30 years practising as a doctor.
His skills in surgery were honed during his time studying cardio-thoracic surgery in North London, and he performs minor surgery removing lumps and bumps for Dorset Private GP.
He is happy to discuss the removal of any skin lesion you are unhappy with or those causing concern.
Dr Zara Mufti
Bournemouth
Zara studied at Liverpool University in 2008 and has worked in various areas in the country and medical specialities before qualifying as a GP in 2016. She then moved back to her home county of Dorset and has worked locally ever since.
She enjoys the variety and challenge that a career in General Practice offers. She splits her working life between her usual NHS GP surgery, the urgent treatment centre and out of hours service and Dorset Private GP. She really values the time she can spend with patients at Dorset Private GP and now runs the injectable weight loss clinic here.
Outside of work, she maintains a healthy work life balance by gardening, walking her dog and regularly training at the gym.
Dr Eoghan de Burca
Bournemouth
Eoghan studied physiology and later medicine in London before completing his training as a GP in Oxford. He then worked for many years as a GP in Oxfordshire, gaining wide clinical experience before the family relocated to Dorset in early 2023. He enjoys all aspects of general practice but has a particular interest in cardiology having worked as a specialty doctor in that area for several years.
In addition to private work, he works as an NHS GP locally. He loves the wide variety of work as a GP and finds getting to know his patients and their families rewarding. Outside of work, he can be found spending time with his wife, their two sons, and their sausage dog as they explore the beautiful surroundings of Dorset.
Dr Rosemary Crinion
Bournemouth
Rosemary graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 1998 and moved to Poole in 2001 to work as a GP.
She is enthusiastic about all aspects of medicine and offers patients a holistic approach to their care. Her specialist interests include, Family Planning, Women’s Health, Sports Medicine, Dermatology and Geriatrics. She is our Women’s Health lead at the clinic, inserting coils and implants as needed.
Outside of work she is a keen sailor, runner and sea swimmer.
Dr Catherine Hukins
Bournemouth
Catherine has been an NHS GP in Dorset for 22 years. She holds the Advanced Certificate in the Principles and Practice of Menopause Care (British Menopause Society (BMS)). Catherine worked as a peri-menopause and menopause specialist with Newson Health for more than 2 1/2 years and also holds the DRCOG qualification (Diploma of Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists). Catherine feels passionately that great menopause care should include providing information for women about their options and empowering them to make individualised decisions.
Dr Jo Harvey
Bournemouth
Jo has over 25 years experience working as a GP in the Bournemouth area. Her wide breadth of knowledge spans all areas of general practice, and she is able to provide reliable and empathetic care for patients of all ages.
Jo has a special interest in women’s health and offers comprehensive care in this area, including breast care, menopause management, contraception, coil and implant fittings, as well as support for a wide range of women’s health concerns.
Jo is a keen runner and has taken part in a number of long-distance events. She also enjoys cycling, skiing and sailing. Jo has travelled extensively with her family, camping, backpacking and embracing local cultures.
Dr Lucy Freeman
Ashley Cross
Lucy qualified as a doctor in 2011 and completed GP training in London in 2016. Currently, she combines her private work with a role in the NHS, providing compassionate, patient-centred care, grounded in evidence based and holistic medicine. Lucy has a special focus on women’s health, paediatrics, lifestyle medicine and weight management but also enjoys the extensive variety that comes with being a general practitioner. She has completed additional training in reproductive and sexual health, menopause management and is trained in fitting both hormonal and non-hormonal intrauterine coils. Outside of her professional life, Lucy is a dedicated mother to two young children. She’s a passionate yoga enthusiast and enjoys spending her free time out on the water.
Dr Andrew Summers
Bournemouth, Ashley Cross, Poundbury
Andrew has been a GP for over 30 years working as a NHS GP partner in the UK as well as gaining experience across the world having worked in healthcare in areas diverse as Australia and the Channel Islands.
He has experience in working in both the public and private sector and specialising in men’s health, sports medicine, joint injections, paediatrics and mental health.
He joined the DPGP team in January 2026 and is available for consultations across all three of our locations in Bournemouth, Ashley Cross and Poundbury.
Outside work he is a keen cyclist, golfer and beach walker with his dog .
Nurse Jenna Kewley
Bournemouth
Jenna qualified as a general registered nurse in 2005 and has worked in the NHS across varying sites ever since. She has a keen interest in contraception and sexual health and since 2012 has completed advanced courses allowing her to specialise in this field of healthcare. She practices using a patient centered approach and prides herself in putting the comfort and well being of patients first. Outside of work Jenna enjoys playing netball, spending time with her family and taking long walks along the beach with her boxer shepherd dog Bobby.
Nurse Jo Pickering
Ashley Cross
Jo has worked in the healthcare sector since 2013 and brings a wide range of clinical skills to the DPGP team, from phlebotomy and ECGs to suture removal, assisting with minor operations, coil fittings and much more. Jo loves being part of Dorset Private GP because of the supportive team, the wealth of experience we share, and the welcoming, friendly environment we’ve built. Outside of work, you will usually find her in the garden, at the gym, or spending quality time with her family.
Nurse Sarah Pestridge
Ashley Cross
Sarah is an Adult and Paediatric Registered Nurse with more than 30 years of experience in a variety of settings both here in the UK and Canada. She works out of our Ashley Cross location in our Travel Clinic, providing Travel Health Advice and Vaccinations. She is also able to deliver other vaccinations such as HPV, Chicken pox, Shingles, MMR etc.
Delivering a high-quality service, where patients come first, is of utmost importance to Sarah, along with providing tailored and informed consultations whether face to face or over the telephone to patients of all ages.
In her spare time, Sarah enjoys travel, yoga, running, cycling and walking her Labrador, Mabel.
Dr Sumit Aggarwal
Ashley Cross
Sumit qualified in India in 1999 and completed GP training at Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester. He has been an NHS GP in Dorset for the last 14 years, gaining a wide range of experience in all areas of General Practice.
After moving to Poole a few years ago, he has developed a portfolio career across Primary care, Dermatology, Aesthetic medicine and Minimally Invasive Vasectomy. He is an experienced vasectomist with over 1,500 surgeries under his belt.
Outside work, Sumit is a keen gardener, practises yoga and likes to watch cricket.
Melissa Middleton
Clinic Manager
Melissa has worked in a variety of business sectors including insurance, banking and real estate. In her role as clinic manager at Dorset Private GP she particularly enjoys the customer care aspect and strives to ensure that patient experience is of the highest standard it can possibly be. Melissa shares in our joint aim to evolve the clinic into a place of excellence for all patients’ medical, health and wellbeing needs.
Toby Catt
Clinic Assistant Manager
Toby started with Dorset Private GP at our Covid Testing site in Bournemouth. He helped thousands of customers navigate the complicated and frustrating process of Covid PCR testing for trips abroad. Countless people commented on his helpful and patient manner. Since January 2022, Toby looks after patients in our Bournemouth and Poundbury clinics. Nothing is too much trouble for him and he will help in any way he can.
Toby is a keen musician and in his spare time he writes and produces his own music.
Emma Bartlett
Marketing & Accounts Manager
Emma has many years’ experience in the hospitality sector and has brought her impeccable customer service skills to Dorset Private GP. She is part of our administration team in Bournemouth and is available by phone or email to help with any enquiries, no matter how big or small. Emma loves the outdoors and she will often be found trekking around the countryside.
Vikki Coulson
Clinic Supervisor
Vikki worked as a receptionist and administrator for an NHS surgery for seven years, and has the experience to deliver a high standard of customer care. Vikki is polite and friendly with with excellent communication and listening skills, and has a passion for delivering excellent support from the first contact with our patients.
Lucy Hayter
Receptionist/Administrator
With over ten years of experience in the NHS, Lucy joined the team in February 2025 working across all Clinics in Poundbury, Bournemouth and Ashley Cross.
Lucy enjoys liaising with patients and prides herself on delivering customer care to the highest quality, with a smile on her face. Lucy is also responsible for managing our social media pages and she thoroughly enjoys this creative aspect to her role.
Outside of DPGP, Lucy has a young family and loves watching her children play in local football matches & tennis tournaments, every weekend.
Niki Hayter
Receptionist/Administrator
Niki has over 25 years experience in customer service and enjoys the social interaction with the patients. (I love a good chat). Niki prides herself in being empathetic and a good listener. In her spare time, she loves going for walks, spending time with friends and family and also enjoys playing netball 3 times a week.
Freya
Receptionist/Administrator
Freya brings over four years of hospitality experience to the team, meaning she’s no stranger to busy environments, multitasking, and making people feel welcome. She’s naturally friendly, approachable, and prides herself on helping patients feel at ease from the moment they get in touch.
Outside of work, Freya enjoys cooking and eating Asian cuisine, spending time with friends, and going for runs, even in the cold and rain (purely by choice, she insists). Her positive energy and can-do attitude make her a great support to both patients and colleagues alike.
Carolina
Receptionist/Administrator
With over five years of experience in customer service, Carolina is passionate about helping people and creating positive experiences. She brings a warm and professional approach, strong communication skills, and a genuine commitment to understanding and supporting patients’ needs. Carolina believes that high-quality care begins with empathy, compassion, and a positive, reassuring attitude. In her free time, she enjoys writing and reading.
